After the Jobs and Skills Summit, the Federal Government has decided to increased the Migration Planning by 35,000 places for this year having effect immediately. Most of this new slots are allocated to skilled visas.
2022-23 Migration Program Planning Levels
The planning level for the 2022-23 Migration Program had previously been set at 160,000 places. The Albanese Government will increase that number for 2022-23 to 195,000, effective immediately.
Within the overall planning level of 195,000 places:
142,400 places will be allocated to the Skill stream;
52,500 places will be allocated to the Family stream; and
100 places will be available for the Special Eligibility stream.
Longer duration of subclass 485 Post-Study Work Stream (graduated from Higher Education)
In addition, the duration for temporary graduate visa subclass 485 Post-study Work Stream will be increased by 2 years for courses in verified skills shortage. For example, students who graduated:
from selected Bachelor Degree can apply for subclass 485 PSW with visa duration of 4 years
from selected Master Degree can apply for subclass 485 PSW with visa duration of 5 years
from selected PhD can apply for subclass 485 PSW with visa duration of 6 years
