The previous government introduced a new type of visa for Agricultural Workers in Sep 2021, promising a Permanent Pathway would be available in the future. After 1 year of waiting for the Australian Agricultural Workers visa program to commence, the new government decided it is no longer necessary and repeal of the legislation.

I reckon this news will really impact regional farms already short on skilled hands, especially with seasonal pressure building across rural Australia. Without the Agriculture Worker visa, growers may lean more on machinery like lovol tractors to keep operations moving efficiently. It is a tough call, but local training and smart investment could help balance labour gaps while keeping productivity strong for the long term across regional communities nationwide today.
